Seafield Primary School, Deanshaugh Terrace, Elgin, Scotland, IV30 4ES

Client: Moray Council

This scheme at Seafield Primary School was part of a 3 building project, delivering nursery and primary school extensions to schools in Elgin, Lossiemouth and Buckie for Moray Council. The project was part of a major refurbishment works programme taking place on these sites and we were awarded the design, manufacture and installation of the 3 buildings on the one contract.

Seafiled Primary school was delivered to site at the end of October 2015 and completed and handed over to the client in February 2016. This included downtime of a period of 4 weeks, due to a delay in the installation of a new power supply to the site, which was not part of our works but formed part of the main refurbishment contract.

The building is finished externally with Plastisol fitted horizontally onto the building elevation, full height grey aluminium powder coated windows and doors. Internally the building provides 2No primary classrooms and a new nursery facility providing 2 classrooms, lobbies, sanitary facilities, kitchen and storage space. The building has a 3m ceiling height and with full height windows provides a bright and airy environment.

The building is finished with taped, jointed and painted walls in vibrant colour schemes, a suspended ceiling system, ash internal doors with glazed screens, carpet and vinyl flooring, fitted kitchen facilities with cooking appliances. We installed all M&E systems including gas boilers and radiators to all areas, lighting, emergency lighting, power and data and all door access arrangements including fire and intruder alarms. Natural ventilation strategy was implemented in the design, utilising natural vent stacks with all controls taken back to the plant room.

The building was delivered to site and finished within budget and in the required timeframe, despite an delay in the connection to mains power, which sat outside of our control. The building is finished to a high standard and the client has occupied the space providing a welcoming, warm well finished teaching facility.
