Dorchester Primary School KS2, Dorchester Road, Worchester Park, Surrey KT4 8PG
Client: London Borough of Sutton
Dorchester Primary School is a 2000m2 School Development for London Borough of Sutton which was awarded through the Crown Commercial Service Framework Agreement (formerly GPS).
The Building is an intricate design which combines a number of external finishes, from Architectural rockclad panels and corium brick slips, to rendered finish, which blend and compliment each other. The completed facility will provide Classrooms, Administration rooms, Meeting rooms, Dance hall, Library, ICT and Kitchen facilities.
External works started on site in February 2014 with Demolitions, and Modules were delivered in mid April. A breathable Building System, with automated roof lights, was used to provide Ventilation and additional Natural light. A sloped ceiling was incorporated in the Library and ICT Room which maximises the Space, Light and available Fresh air. The external face of the upper floor overlays the Ground Floor, offering an interesting and attractive Architectural feature, whilst also providing natural Brise Soleil.
The Building was completed and occupied by the school in August 2014, with a second phase of the works to include the Demolition of the existing building entrance and offices to build a new sports hall, completed in November 2014.
Dorchester Primary School stands proud with its striking purple panels and intricate brickwork. Internally, the pool of purple flows through the hallways, creating a stunning new building, bursting with light and energy.
