Paxton Primary School:

The £8.25 Million, Paxton Primary School, is a 3FE (720) place school for pupils aged 3-11 years, located in the London Borough of Lambeth. The 3736m2 school includes 23 classrooms over three stories, 2 double height sports halls, dining halls and various areas of ancillary accommodation. Situated on a split level site, including a play area on two levels, the ground floor opens out onto a play and learning area for both nursery and reception children.

Extraspace Solutions and its consultants had a fully coordinated design process using the latest Revit technology which included clash detection software ensuring that the design process was efficient and fully coordinated prior to the modules landing on site.

The design provided the most energy efficient, cost effective, low maintenance services solution, matched to the client needs. It was thermally modelled utilising sophisticated dynamic simulation software, to determine the buildings heat gains, heat losses, ventilation strategies, and day lighting ratios.

The building consists of a steel framed structure with concrete floors. The steel frame was erected in under 4 weeks, greatly reducing the overall school build time to less than 6 months. The building was finished externally with a palette of brick, polycarbonate and rain screen panels, allowing the school to be occupied sooner than traditional methods would have allowed.

The Extraspace Solutions ISO9001 factory controlled environment delivered modular systems, with the highest levels of durability. Designed for lifetime value and minimised maintenance costs, Paxton Primary School was delivered on time, defect free.
