Planning Permission granted for Extraspace Solutions in Paxton Primary School, London

Extraspace Solutions have been granted Planning Permission for the construction of a new 3 Form Entry, 4 storey Primary School at Paxton Primary School in Gipsy Hill, London. The new school project will also include the demolition of the existing school and children’s centre, together with all new external works and soft / hard landscaped playground areas.

Paxton Primary School is currently a 1FE (236) place school for pupils aged 3-11 (i.e. Nursery to Year 6).  When fully occupied, the new state of the art school will accommodate 656 children.

The gross area of the building is an impressive 3736m2.  The new school includes 23 classrooms over three stories, 2 double height sports halls / dining halls and various other areas of ancillary accommodation. The building will be situated on a split level site, with play areas on two levels. The ground floor will open out onto a play and learning area for both the nursery and reception children. The upper floors will open onto a newly formed play space. In dealing with the restricted nature of the site, we are constructing 2 MUGAs (Multi Use Games Areas)  to ensure compliance with BB99.

Demolition of the Children’s Centre will commence in September 2015, with Phase I of the school due for handover in June 2016 and Phase II in September 2016.
