Friday, 24th April 2015 saw the Soft Opening of the New Emerald Ward for the Kent & Medway NHS & SCPT (KMPT) in Maidstone, Kent. The Unit caters for 18 patients, with 16 nursing staff and 5 admin staff. The project itself marks a new development for the Trust and is the first modular project of its size and complexity within the UK.
Of those in attendance at the grand opening were Angela McNab and John Carey, Chairman and Chief Executive for the Medway Trust, Phillipa MacDonald, Geri Coulls and Sarah Day, in addition to several other prominent members of the Trust.
Extraspace Director, Ronan Smyth facilitated the event and led the proceedings; giving in depth explanations and discussions to all concerned. He was joined by Project Manager, Steve Williams and Site Manager, Scott Nicholls. Everyone was very pleased with the Standard of Construction and Finish.
The Unit was blessed by Chaplains Ruth Bierbaum and Ted Hurst today along with Phillipa MacDonald, who is The Head of Service Re-Development.
The garden courtyard is to be used as a Therapeutic area, which will provide space for a flexible and responsive programme to meet the needs of the patients.
