Oldham Council Leader Jim McMahon visited our site in Oldham last Monday, 9th February 2015, to see first-hand the arrival of the Steel Framed Modules to site.
Joined by Cllr Amanda Chadderton, Cabinet Member for Education, Cllr Steve Williams, Joan Readyhough, Vice Governor and Graham Cohen, Head Teacher, they witnessed the speedy progress made on site since work commenced in early December. Hollinwood Academy is a completely new School constructed to provide Specialist Educational Services for children aged 4 to 19 that are on the autistic spectrum and/or have significant interaction difficulties.
James Southall, Extraspace Project Manager (pictured) was able to show the extent of the site and the Progress that has been made in ground Clearance, Removal of spoil, Excavation, Pouring of foundations and Installation of drainage in a short space of time, which leaves the site ready for Building Installation.
While this work was going on in Oldham, Extraspace have constructed 72No Steel Framed Modules which will form the 2 storey complex. These are being delivered to site and installed over a 5 day period in February. This means that in the space of just 3 months working on-site and off-site, the building envelope will be on-site and ready for the fit out phase.
As well as Teaching space and associated Facilities, the Project also includes the full Construction of a Sports hall, Kitchen and Ball hall, with Access roads and Parking for 150 cars. The Project will be completed and handed over the end user to occupy and prepare the facility for the start of the new school terms in 2015.
